Advent child – daily ritual
In December, every child in kindergarten class 4A becomes an Advent child.
When the children arrive in the morning, one child discovers a star in their finches. This child is the Advent child today and takes on some special tasks. It is allowed to light the candles on the Advent wreath, choose other children to make music with it and choose a game with the Advent cube.
The other children think about what they particularly like about the Advent child. These ‘kind words’ are written on a star, which is then hung in the classroom’s ‘starry sky’.
With each day, the little bags in the Advent calendar become fewer. At the same time, the Advent child makes a flame for one of the 24 candles on the windows.
And if mum and dad have time in the evening, the Advent child can open their little bag and make a special ornament for the Christmas tree.
